Reporters’ Roundup: USPS cuts FERS contributions, Pentagon renovation ends

Here\'s what Federal News Radio\'s reporters worked on today

  • The Postal Service is no longer contributing hundreds of millions of dollars a month into the defined benefit portion of the Federal Employees Retirement System, or FERS. The decision comes despite the Office of Personnel Management’s refusal to let USPS receive credit for the more than six billion dollars in overpayment to the retirement fund. Anthony Vegliante is the Postal Service’s chief human resources officer and executive vice president. He spoke with Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller about this decision to cease payments for the near future.
  • At the Pentagon this morning, leaders gathered to mark the end of one of the largest renovation projects in history. After almost 18 years, it’s finally done. Federal News Radio’s DoD Reporter Jared Serbu has more information.
