Cybersecurity throwdown issued for CIOs

A former deputy director of the NSA has urged CIOs to become more proactive in their approach to corporate security consciousness.

Hey, all you CIO’s out there. Time to step up! That’s the message from former NSA CIO Prescott Winter, who warns other CIO’s that it is time to focus on cybersecurity. Winter tells CIO Magazine that many CIO’s remain reactive, not proactive. He says many CIO’s find themselves afraid of potential holes in security, particularly in areas involving critical infrastructure. The most common excuse he hears is that you don’t know what you don’t know.
