The Defense Department launches an information campaign to stop domestic violence within its ranks. The campaign goes along with President Obama’s proclomation that October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. DOD says getting the word out about resources and prevention is especially important today, as deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq put extra stress on troops and their families. Military installations around the country have launched their own prevention programs. Fort Meade, in Maryland, for example, is providing seminars on everything from couples communication to spousal rights.
