All network security equipment is being exposed to a whole new kind of online attack. Stonesoft, a Finnish data security vendor, says that it has found a new threat category. It is called an AET; Advanced Evasion Techniques. Different evasions are combined at once in several layers of networks, becoming invisible to security gear. Evasions are nothing new. But AET’s allow attackers to bypass firewalls and intrusion systems without ever being detected. Stonesoft researchers say this new type of attack acts as a master key to anywhere.
