BRAC ramps could be blocked by study

A big plan to alleviate predicted traffic congestion around Alexandria\'s new Mark Center hit a major roadblock.

A federal study is causing more concern over the BRAC transition to the Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The Federal Highways Administration has opened an environmental impact study into the construction of a key access ramp between the Mark Center and I-395. As WTOP.com first reported, and according to the Washington Business Journal, the study could push back construction by up to 18 months. More than 6,400 Defense employees are scheduled to move into the Mark Center by the end of the year, but the project has been plagued by concerned over access and traffic congestion.
