Every Wednesday at 4 p.m., it’s Pentagon Solutions, where we take a deep dive into the most critical challenges the Defense Department deals with and we hear from experts inside and outside the building on how to deal with those challenges.

Today, it’s the budget deal that re-opens the federal government. The shutdown deal provides certainty for the Defense Department until Jan. 15. But sequester cuts are still scheduled for that date. The continuing resolution doesn’t address what happens to sequester cuts, it just gets the government open again. On Pentagon Solutions today, we heard from two defense budget experts — Gordon Adams of the Stimson Center and American University and Todd Harrison, senior fellow for Defense Budget Studies at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments.
